India geo-political location makes it more vulnerable to terrorism . On its Northwest Pakistan & North East Myanmar pose great security challenge to India. 

The cross border terrorism by Pakistan, frequent shelling & cease fire violation to give give cover to terrorists, infiltration disrupt the lives living along the international border. 

As a result of this: 

• huge collateral damage
• deaths to soldiers & civilians 
• Death of  innocents
• loss of Economic activities
• youth are getting radicalised
• The terrorism might attract the youth and recruit them and use them against India itself.

One of the reason for increased terrorism on India’s border is its proximity to Golden Crescent and Golden Triangle.

Afghanistan is world's most illegally producer of opium. These drugs are trafficked through Pakistan to India.  The money earned is utilized for terror financing.

Same is the case with respect to Golden Triangle. The drug enters India through North Eastern states.

The money earned by drug trafficking is used for:

buying arms & ammunition.
recruiting youths & training them.
launching them to India through cross border terror launch pad.

Pakistan ISI frequently misuse the  sensitive borders of Indio through Indo-Nepal, Indo - Bangla and Indo-Pak borders to supply arms to grown terrorist organization such as The militant organization in Jammu & Kashmir,  Indian Mujahideen receives  funding mainly through these borders by ISI .

India has taken few steps with respect to counter terrorism & counter drug trafficking such as:

• trying to place Pakistan in black list by FATF.
•  intensifying border management
• Use of technology, drones, infra-red & thermal imaging, high speed Communication network & earth observation through satellites to monitor the borders to break cycle of terrorism.
• National Action Plan for Drug Demand Reduction in India to reduce demand hence, cut terror funding.

Given these challenges, India should adopt a comprehensive approach to reduce supply as well as demand for narcotics and drugs. Enacting legislation and ensuring physical security of the borders and coasts by strengthening patrolling and surveillance is important.
